Launchpad: The Academic Lighthouse

Today’s teenagers are faced with unprecedented challenges, including an increase in screentime and a decrease in critical thinking. The college admissions landscape is becoming more competitive and dynamic. High school students have to manage multiple demanding classes and extracurriculars. They have to balance the here and now (YOLO) with their goals for the future, without the benefit of a fully developed prefrontal cortex. And, you know, hormones.

That’s where Launchpad comes in. We shine a light on a student’s path, offering stability, guidance, and hope.

We don’t help students reach their goals; we teach students the skills they need to reach their goals themselves. We work with students to help them build both practical and emotional-regulation skills to thrive in high school and beyond. Intelligence does not automatically equate to success; to do life, from high school to a professional career, you must employ productivity systems and develop strategies to self-motivate.

In both our executive function coaching and college essay support, we guide students on their journey to self-actualize. We help students reflect, adopt routines and habits, and provide the accountability support teens need as they learn and grow.

The result? Young adults who are confident, proud, and who independently navigate life and pursue their dreams.

Our Approach

Explicit Instruction

We use evidence-based interventions and tools to leverage strengths and ameliorate deficits. Each session is tailored to a student’s specific needs and developmental stage, and will include scientifically developed methods, executive function systems, both tactile and digital tools, and mindfulness techniques. With nearly 20-years of experience supporting high-achieving, competitive, neurodivergent high school students, we use our extensive knowledge of neuroscience to ensure learning is efficient and sticks.

Accountability Support

Progress is neither linear nor immediate, so we introduce and implement accountability structures while students are working to internalize and sustain new habits. The framework for check-ins will focus on student ownership. Accountability is never about judgment, and we validate to students that the process of growth and change can be hard and uncomfortable. At times and if needed, we partner with parents and coach them to act as a student’s "external frontal lobe” on the journey to academic independence.

Connection is key

We pride ourselves on building meaningful relationships with students. Through our interactions, we reflect back to students their incredible assets and gifts, helping them better define their own sense of self. We demonstrate respect for and trust in our students by always being honest. In turn, students gain real clarity regarding their affinities and confidence that weaknesses can be improved. We explore the connection between values, thoughts, and behaviors, empowering students to live with greater intentionality.
